Our next group meetup is a Sunset Paddle scheduled for Friday, August 4th. We will be leaving the beach at 7:30pm to paddle into the sunset, and then paddle back under the full moon. The downtown city skyline is a beautiful setting and a perfect way to end the work week and start the weekend!
These meet-ups are designed to connect people in the Tampa Bay area to others that share a love for paddling around our local estuaries and to make some awesome memories out on the water!
- Do I need to be experienced? All experience levels and ages are welcome to join us. The West Coast Kayaks crew will provide any necessary instruction to make sure you are comfortable throughout our trip - this is a relaxing paddle, not a race so everyone can enjoy it!
- What do I need to bring? You must bring or rent from us a Kayak or Paddleboard, a lifejacket and whistle (while you do not have to wear your lifejacket, you must have a lifejacket and whistle on board by Coast Guard Regulations.) An all-around white light for after the sunset is required and will be available to purchase. We also have a huge selection of lights ranging in price from $12-$40 and variety underwater LED’s from $89 to $399.
- Will you have kayaks or paddleboards to rent? Absolutely, please call in advance to reserve one of our kayaks or paddleboards for just $50- everything including a light is provided. Limited quantities available!
- Is there a cost? If you bring your own board or kayak there is no cost – but a $10 donation to help offset the cost associated with putting on the event is appreciated.
We will be meeting at North Shore Park in downtown St. Petersburg on the waterfront next to the recreational area. A WCK representative will be there at 7:00 pm for check-in to ensure we leave in a timely manner at 7:30pm!
